Our Story
MHD Helpline was founded in 2014 with a clear purpose: to provide Kalamazoo and the surrounding southwest Michigan community with a dedicated, on-site addiction treatment center where individuals could receive the highest standard of clinical care. Our founders, a group of physicians, behavioral health professionals, and individuals in long-term recovery, recognized that too many families in Kalamazoo County were struggling to find accessible, quality treatment close to home.
What began as a 24-bed residential facility on Holiday Terrace has grown into a comprehensive treatment campus serving hundreds of patients each year. Over the past decade, MHD Helpline has expanded its clinical programs to include medical detoxification, residential rehabilitation, intensive outpatient programming, and specialized dual diagnosis treatment. Every addition to our center has been guided by the needs of the people we serve and the latest advances in addiction medicine.
Today, MHD Helpline stands as one of Kalamazoo's trusted addiction treatment centers. Our campus provides a peaceful, therapeutic environment where patients can focus entirely on recovery, supported by an experienced on-site team of physicians, nurses, licensed therapists, and certified counselors who understand the complex nature of substance use disorders.
